Joshua R. Shoumer is the founding attorney of the Shoumer Law Group. He focuses his practice on representing landlords, management companies, and investors in a wide variety of housing, habitability, and real estate related issues. He has also served as a consultant and mediator in dozens of instances to facilitate informal dispute resolution, saving his clients unnecessary legal expenses.
Prior to founding the firm, Joshua spent two years as an associate attorney in the products liability practice group of Foley & Mansfield, a national litigation firm in Los Angeles. He focused on general liability and civil litigation with an emphasis in toxic and mass tort defense. He also handled commercial litigation with an emphasis in financial services. His clients included manufacturers, suppliers, financial institutions, small businesses, individuals, and other commercial entities.
Prior to practicing law, Joshua worked in the wealth management division of Morgan Stanley. During law school, he served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Alan M. Ahart, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California. During his second year of law school, he participated in the Securities and Exchange Commission Law Student Observer Program for the Los Angeles Regional Office Division of Enforcement. He also served as Production Editor for the Loyola of Los Angeles International and Comparative Law Review.
On weekends, Joshua spends his time playing soccer and basketball, fishing, and reading. He also mentors law students and young entrepreneurs in the Los Angeles area.
